Day 16: Your views on mainstream music?

Hey there!

Hope you are all having a brilliant day, welcome to day 16! This is a tricky one for me, to me mainstream means artists that are in the top charts regularly and obviously very famous.

I’m not a big fan of mainstream music, purely because I prefer music that has been written by the artist, so Ed Sheeran writes his own songs, which I love, but technically he is quite mainstream isn’t he? Same sort of thing goes with Lady Gaga, Adele and Amy Winehouse. I love these artists, my favourite songs being, 100 million reasons by Lady Gaga, million years ago by Adele and my tears dry on their own by Amy Winehouse.

I have a varied taste in music, bit of country, acoustic and I like to see some soul! A strange combo, but I like music that lights me up inside.

Radio 1 have introduced me to a few good artists, (again is this mainstream?) like rationale, their song palms is so good in the car or through headphones, definitely worth a listen! Gallant with bourbon again is amazing!

I love both Jake Bugg and Tom Odell their song writing skills and voices are amazing! Jake Bugg’s livin up country is worth listening to if you like a more country sound. This is an oldie but grow old with me by Tom Odell is great!

I recently watched the film dream girls for the first time, and became addicted tot Beyonce’s ‘listen’, I love old music, bit of nostalgia for you, Ne-yo with so sick, amazing song.

When I first listened to these two artist a few years ago they weren’t that big in the public eye, but now they are growing in popularity. So really I like music before or after it has been mainstreamed, unless it’s a really good song.

Check out my 30 Day writing challenge.

Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed,
